Services: Medical: General
We emphasize preventive care whenever possible. Prevention IS better than cure. Annual physical exams for your pet are important. They will save you time and money and save your pets from possible unnecessary pain and illness.
Behavioral Counseling:
We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling, and aggression. We work with some fantastic trainers—check out our links page for referrals.
Boarding:
We are not a boarding kennel, however we do board pets with medical problems if we believe it is the best interest for their recovery. Visit our links page for our pick of Austin boarding facilities. Please call the facility in advance for vaccination requirements, and update your pet's vaccinations as soon as possible prior to their stay, to avoid any inconvenience.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services:
Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to cater to your pet's complete health care needs.
Dietary Counseling:
We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance, and performance, as well as prescription diet guidelines for certain medical conditions. See our links page for additional resources.
Electrocardiography Services:
We provide ECG services and consultations with cardiology specialists.
Laboratory:
Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Pharmacy:
We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, flea medications, and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also stock prescription diet pet foods, shampoos, oral chews, pill pockets, etc.
Radiology/Ultrasonography:
Our on-site x-ray equipment and qualified ultrasonographers provide high quality imaging to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders.
Spaying/Neutering:
We highly recommend spaying and neutering, preferably between 4-6 months of age. There are many advantages to having your pet spayed or neutered.
Travel Certificates:
Domestic and International travel certificates are required for travel by all airlines (with exception to some private flights.) A physical exam and appointment reservation is necessary for this service. Please consult your airline, and if applicable your destination country, for their requirements. Visit the USDA APHIS site for more information regarding international travel regulations for pets. Please note when making your appointment that Dr. Rob Spitz and Dr. Leslie Wilson are the only USDA certified vets who can issue international certificates; all of our vets can issue domestic certificates.
Vaccinations:
These are our very own "LABAH vaccination schedules" and recommendations for a healthy, happy pet. They are a combination of what’s dictated by immunologists and required by law, combined with what we believe is necessary for outstanding pet health. There are some vaccinations that we do not recommend, either at all or for the type of lifestyle your pet leads, and we give our opinion on those here as well.
